The reason we buy the bikes we do!
Mat ClarkAs a small shop its sometimes hard to pick what to offer our customers but we have always stuck to a simple philosophy that has kept us grounded in our purchasing has always proved time and time again to be a good question to ask ourselves.
Is it a good bike?
Does it handle well? Does it have a the front:centre ratio golden number? are the chain stays proportional? Is it too heavy? Is it too light? Is it good value? Does it look cool? We plot the Geometry for each size in a spread sheet (ask Ste about his new Geo metric "reach around" next time you see him) and compare them all against our very favourite riding bikes of all time and it goes on and on!
And all of this is before we start talking about motors and batteries. Peak power, system weight, battery size, efficiency, removable battery vs non.
We have meetings about this stuff and poor over these details. We ride the bikes and pick them apart. We argue about spec and colour and geometry and size and once thats all done we might just be ready to order some bikes!
And this mirrors consumer experience aswell. There are a mind bending amount of choices out there, but rest assured we only sell the best bikes!
So when I see an incredible article like the one released a few days ago from E-Mountain Bike Magazine I tend to read it start to finish. I have never seen an article quite like it!
The depth and work that has gone into it is quite stunning with every basis covered! All the numbers laid out for all to see and the overarching question that led to the results is:
Is it a good bike?
So when I finished reading and saw that our purchasing decisions as a company have been right on the money it was nice to see.
And here are the winners!
Unno Mith - Editors choice
