MTB Technician & Suspension Specialist

The Role

This is a highly technical, customer-facing workshop position combining full mountain bike servicing and custom builds with advanced suspension setup, servicing and optimisation. You’ll work methodically, cleanly and efficiently while managing your own workflow in a busy environment, contributing to both day-to-day operations and the wider growth of the business.

Key Skills & Attributes

To succeed in this role, you’ll be someone who:

  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of modern mountain bike technologies and mechanical principles
  • Is confident servicing, diagnosing and building high-end mountain bikes and components
  • Works accurately, methodically and to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness
  • Manages time, workload and workshop space proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with customers, colleagues and riders of all levels
  • Can translate complex technical information into clear, practical advice
  • Is eager to learn new systems, techniques and technologies — and contribute feedback to improve them
  • Has a genuine passion for MTB, including riding, racing, product development and industry trends
  • Is comfortable working on customers’ pride and joy in a busy, customer-facing workshop

You’ll also ideally be:

  • A keen and capable rider with a strong understanding of bike dynamics and setup
  • Knowledgeable across MTB disciplines and racing culture
  • Comfortable engaging with customers in person, by phone and email
  • Social-media aware, with an understanding of how technical knowledge translates to brand presence

Experience & Qualifications (Advantageous but not Essential)

  • Previous experience in a similar MTB workshop or technical role
  • Suspension service experience very advantageous!
  • Cytech Level 2 / 3, engineering qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Other cycle industry experience
  • Full UK driving licence

Main Responsibilities

  • Service, repair and fault-find across a wide range of high-end mountain bike brands
  • Carry out suspension servicing, tuning and setup to Plush standards
  • Assemble and set up stock bikes and custom builds
  • Maintain demo and test bike fleets
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality technical work under time pressure
  • Provide clear, honest and informed technical advice to customers
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional workshop environment
  • Participate in in-house and off-site events, demo days and selected races
  • Support sales and customer service as part of daily operations
  • Rota-based weekend work as required
  • Maintain elite-level car-park jib proficiency (non-negotiable)
