The XM 481 is a solid foundation for a proper trail wheel: wide enough to support modern mountain-bike rubber, with a welded aluminium construction that makes sense for regular, hard use.

A 30mm internal width gives the tyre a stable base. DT Swiss PHR washers spread the load at the spoke holes and work with the supplied Squorx Pro Head nipples, helping the builder create an even, durable wheel.

Support for proper trail tyres

The XM 481 gives a trail tyre a broad 30mm internal base, helping it hold its shape through corners and rough ground. Its welded aluminium construction makes it a useful foundation for a wheel that has to earn its turns on the climbs as well as the descents. The 27.5-inch rim is pictured to show the profile; choose the wheel diameter and drilling for your build.

Spread the load at the spoke holes

PHR washers increase the area over which each nipple loads the rim. Their curved shape works with the supplied Squorx Pro Head nipples to align the nipple with the spoke, reducing local stress at this important part of the wheel.
