High climber! Unno Mith ascend and efficiency challenge!

Mat Clark

Cesar Rojo is the founder on Unno bikes and has been riding his DJI powered Mith joyfully around the foot hills of Barcelona for the last 12 months testing and perfecting the ride quality of his new super bike. But now he has a different test. Just how much climbing can we get out of the new Unno Mith?! And how efficient is it?

Well here is what Cesar found out when you limited his Mith for power and went pedalling!

"Yesterday was my first attempt at reaching 3.000m in a single ride. After a few days enjoying the 1.000W of peak power from the new upgrade, it was time to go in the opposite direction. For this first try, I limited the power to a max of 400W, still a lot, considering that in many systems, that’s more than 50% of peak power. I fell a bit short at “only” 2.800m, the ride stats were still impressive at 58.64kms, 3h13 of riding, av. speed of 18.2kph and 138 av. Bpm. Next try: 300W max power, and I think I might get it!

As weight matters for range, I am a fairly light rider at 70kg + riding gear. I will also consider myself in decent shape for a full time ebiker"

As for the efficiency test

"I wanted to see how efficient the @avinoxebike motor becomes when limited to this potentially new (and silly) regulation (750w peak power), and how it compares to other systems out there with similar power. I’m amazed by how much range the motor delivers. Two hours of riding at a solid pace, 134 bpm, 21.0 kph average with the bike capped at 25 kph, and the incredible stat of 2,273 m (7,457 ft) of accumulated elevation and 10 descents. 6% left on the battery. This kind of ride was something you could only dream of before, or experience in a bike park.

A few key details: I weigh 70 kg plus gear, and the bike was set to Trail mode, with the configuration shown in one of the images. Assistance was reduced to ensure I had to make a minimum effort to hit the 750W power output. Torque was set at 105 Nm, but once you're pedalling at a normal cadence, torque becomes irrelevant, power is what limits the output, so don’t be misled by the torque numbers, power is what matters."
