Staff Rides - Daz's gets custom paint!

Mat Clark

As a senior plush suspension technician at Brink, Daz knows a thing or two about building the ultimate jump bike. His custom-painted Specialized P3 is a testament to his passion for little bikes and big jumps and his keen eye for design. From the meticulously chosen components to the personalized touches, this bike is a true reflection of Daz's personality and riding style.

The Specialized P3: A Blank Canvas for Customization

The Specialized P3 is a versatile and capable jump bike, providing the perfect foundation for Daz's custom build. With its lightweight frame and 90mm of travel in the Olens Forks, this bike is designed to be nimble and responsive, allowing Daz to throw it around the dirt jumps with ease.

But Daz didn't stop there. He wanted to make this bike truly his own, so he enlisted the help of Cherry Customs to bring his vision to life. The result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind paint job that perfectly captures Daz's personality and riding style.

Personalized Details: A Bike with a Story

As Daz takes us through the details of his custom P3, it's clear that this bike is more than just a piece of equipment – it's a reflection of his life and his passions. From the Lego heads on the valve stems, a nod to his son, to the koi fish decal that matches his tattoo, every element of this bike has a personal story behind it.

One of the standout features is the drawing from Daz's son, which he's proudly displayed on the top tube. "There's a picture here that my son Drew when he was six, I've got on the top tube there for a bit of motivation," Daz explains. This simple touch adds a layer of meaning to the bike, making it a true extension of Daz's life and experiences.

But the personalization doesn't stop there. Daz has also incorporated his own "Daz" logo on the fork crown, a design he created when he was just a teenager. This small detail adds a sense of history and authenticity to the bike, making it feel like a true extension of Daz himself.

Component Selection: Dialing in the Perfect Ride

Beyond the stunning custom paint job, Daz has carefully selected each component on his P3. From the lightweight carbon rims to the short 165mm cranks, every detail has been meticulously chosen to optimize the bike's performance and Daz's riding experience.

The Ohlins custom painted RXF36 fork is now a DJ staple and works perfectly with his choice of frame.

The Hope hubs and TR stem also contribute to the bike's overall performance, providing a smooth and responsive ride that Daz can rely on when pushing the limits on the dirt jumps.

The Dirt Jump Spot: Daz's Playground

With his custom-built P3 dialed in and ready to go, Daz heads to his local dirt jump spot to put the bike through its paces. This is where the bike truly comes alive, as Daz effortlessly navigates the jumps and showcases his impressive riding skills.

As Daz explains, the Goodwood trails spot is a favorite among his friends, as it provides the perfect conditions for learning and progressing. "All of my friends that I ride with every one of us would agree that this is the best jump to learn back flips on," he says. "All of them have tried it, all of them have successfully Landed It just seems to be something about the speed that you get to come into it and the shape of the jump that just makes it perfect."

Watching Daz float through the air, it's clear that he's in his element. The custom-built P3 responds to his every input, allowing him to push the limits of his riding and land trick after trick with ease.

A Bike Built to Last

As Daz concludes his video, he makes it clear that this bike is more than just a tool – it's a cherished possession that he has no intention of ever parting with. "This is my favorite bike and forever will be," he says. "I'm never going to sell it. It's mine, and it's going to be mine forever."

This sentiment speaks volumes about the connection Daz has with his custom-built P3. It's not just a bike – it's a reflection of his passion, his personality, and his dedication to dirt jumping. And with the level of care and attention he's put into this build, it's easy to see why he would be so reluctant to let it go!
