The E 550 brings a 30mm alloy profile to the sort of road build that has to cope with more than race-day tarmac. Its 22mm internal width gives wider road tyres a useful platform, making it a good fit for endurance riding and rougher all-road routes.
DT Swiss developed the profile with aerodynamic input from Swiss Side, but kept the construction practical for a custom wheel. PHR washers and Squorx nipples are supplied for the build. Use tubes or compatible tubeless tyres, and choose the drilling and tyre clearance for the bike rather than simply copying a race-wheel setup.

The 30mm profile was developed with Swiss Side input around an endurance-road tyre platform. The 22mm internal width makes this a different proposition from a narrow race rim.

The E 550 is supplied with the PHR washers and Squorx nipples it is designed around. That spoke-seat arrangement helps each nipple align with the spoke rather than forcing it to sit at the wrong angle.
