THE WINNING DIFFERENCE

One of the design goals for the new FLOAT X2 was to close the performance gap on the award-winning GRIP X2 fork damper, which launched in 2024. Racers and riders love the GRIP X2’s enhanced traction and support and reduced fatigue. A larger base valve and more individual valves in the FLOAT X2—combined with a pressure balanced tune means that the shock now performs at the same level as the GRIP X2 damper with ultimate grip, more control and a more comfortable ride.

MONO TUBE TECH

Pressure balancing* was required to meet the goal of achieving equivalent performance of the GRIP X2 damper. With greater control of the shock’s rebound stroke, the rear tire behaves with more predictability, which leads to greater rider confidence.

The twin tube architecture of the previous FLOAT X2 did not meet the requirements for pressure balancing, so we moved to a monotube design. This also gave us opportunity to upgrade the main shaft diameter from 3/8” (9.5mm) to ½” (12.7mm) for even more strength and durability. However, the move to monotube made preserving 4-way adjustability a challenge.
*Pressure balancing benefits suspension by maintaining a low positive pressure in the damper, allowing a much faster damper response time to rider inputs.

That positive pressure in the damper prevents cavitation and alleviates oil aeration, both which can negatively affect performance of the shock.
