A downhill wheel build starts with the right rim for the job. The Reserve 30|DH is a carbon option for race tracks and repeated bike-park laps, developed with input from the Santa Cruz Syndicate. Its revised layup targets impact resistance, while the updated profile brings compliance into the design.
Choose the rim for the end of the bike you're building: the 29-inch front uses 28 spokes, while the 29-inch and 27.5-inch rear versions use 32. Match the position, diameter and drilling when choosing a replacement or planning a custom build.
Supplied as one rim. Hub, spokes and wheel-building labour are separate.

Strength around each spoke nipple
The raised sections around the spoke holes put reinforcement where spoke loads enter the rim. It strengthens this highly stressed area without adding the same extra material around the whole rim.
A better balance between the spokes
The asymmetric spoke bed changes the spoke angles on either side of the wheel, helping the builder achieve more balanced tensions. That supports the strength and reliability of the finished wheel.
