2027 Santa Cruz Nomad 7 CC
The Big-Hit Bike That Still Wants One More Lap
The Nomad has always been the bike for riders who don’t just ride trails, they go looking for the biggest, steepest, most committing lines they can find. The new Nomad 7 keeps that DNA, but refines it into something faster, more composed, and surprisingly easier to live with when the climbing starts.
With 170mm front and rear travel, mixed wheels, and Santa Cruz’s VPP suspension dialled in further than ever, this is still a full-send machine. But now it’s lighter, more compliant, and noticeably calmer when things get properly rough.
This is a bike for riders who want downhill confidence without being tied to an uplift.
Frame & Suspension : Big Travel, Smarter Feel
The CC carbon frame drops a bit of weight, but more importantly adds compliance where it matters. The updated layup and slimmer downtube take the edge off harsh terrain, reducing fatigue without dulling the bike’s aggression.
Santa Cruz have also refined the VPP kinematics:
- Improved traction under power
- Better support through square-edge hits
- Reduced brake dive when things get steep
The result is a bike that feels planted when you’re pushing hard, but still active and forgiving when the trail gets messy.
Geometry & Ride Feel : Built to Be Pushed
The Nomad sticks with its proven MX setup, 29” front and 27.5” rear, giving you stability up front and freedom to move the bike underneath you.
A slightly slacker head angle and subtle geometry tweaks make it even more confident at speed, without turning it into a one-dimensional plough bike.
It still wants to pop, move, and get creative. It just holds it together better when things go wrong.
Build Options
CC 90 : The Tough, No-Nonsense Build
The CC 90 is the most accessible way into the Nomad platform, but it keeps the core of what makes this bike so capable.
RockShox ZEB Select and Super Deluxe Select suspension keep things simple and reliable, while SRAM Eagle T-Type delivers solid shifting under load. Alloy Reserve rims bring strength and durability for riders who aren’t shy about smashing through rock gardens.
This is the build for riders who care more about riding hard than chasing spec sheets.
CC XT Di2 : The Precision All-Rounder
This is where the Nomad starts to feel seriously dialled.
Fox Factory suspension with Grip X2 up front and DHX2 out back gives a huge range of adjustment and a noticeably more controlled ride when speeds pick up. Shimano XT Di2 brings clean, consistent shifting with minimal fuss, backed up by proven durability.
It’s the build for riders who want performance upgrades where they actually matter, without going full halo.
CC X0 AXS : The Lightweight Hitter
The X0 AXS build brings wireless shifting and carbon wheels into the mix, making the Nomad feel sharper, lighter, and more responsive without losing its aggressive edge.
Fox Factory suspension keeps things glued to the ground, while SRAM X0 Transmission delivers precise shifting even under serious load. Reserve carbon rims add stiffness and reduce weight, helping the bike accelerate and track better through rough terrain.
This is the choice if you want your big bike to feel fast everywhere, not just on the way down.
Nomad 7 : Why This Bike Exists
The Nomad isn’t trying to be everything. It’s built for riders who want a proper big bike feel, but still want to earn their descents.
It climbs better than it should, descends harder than most, and stays composed when the trail turns into survival mode.
If your idea of a good ride involves steep lines, blown-out tracks, and finishing with tired hands and a massive grin, this is exactly where the Nomad makes sense.
