2027 Santa Cruz Tallboy 6 CC Custom Ex-Demo

One Careful Owner. Several Unnecessary Purchases.

This is Ste’s Tallboy. A perfectly sensible bike that was left unsupervised with his bank card.

The plan was a fast, lively trail bike for big rides, questionable lines and the occasional race. Somewhere along the way, that required 3D-printed titanium brake levers.

He then won Pedalhounds on it, which has been absolutely unbearable for everyone who works here.

Downcountry, Apparently

With 130mm of rear travel, a 140mm RockShox Pike Select and a Deluxe Select+ shock, the Tallboy 6 CC is a proper downcountry race bike and rowdy trail ragger. Keen up the climbs, lively through the turns and always interested in the stupid little jump beside the sensible bit of trail.

Brakes From the Jewellery Counter

Trickstuff Piccola HD Titanium brakes, with 3D-printed titanium lever blades. Two of Ste’s favourite things: 3D printing and explaining why something expensive was actually a reasonable purchase.

Dächle Ultralight rotors, 203mm front and 180mm rear, get titanium bolts too. Ordinary bolts would apparently have ruined everything.

Beautiful control, serious stopping power and a manufacturing lecture if you accidentally ask him about them.

Race-Tuned Wheels. Proper Rubber.

Reserve 30|SL carbon up front, tougher 30|HD carbon at the rear. DT Swiss 240 hubs, including a 240 DEG DF rear, built with Competition Race spokes.

The lighter front rim and slender spokes bring useful compliance to help the wheel track the ground. Compliance helps grip. Grip helps speed. Speed helps you win Pedalhounds.

Sorry. He’s standing behind us.

Schwalbe’s radial tyres finish the job: Tacky Chan Gravity Pro Ultrasoft up front and Romy Gravity Pro Soft behind, both 29 x 2.50. Plenty of grip for a bike that encourages this much nonsense.

Wireless. Obviously.

SRAM X0 AXS T-Type transmission, 165mm cranks and a 10-52t cassette handle the drivetrain. A 225mm Reverb AXS B1 makes the dropper wireless too.

OneUp bars, a 42mm Enduro stem and chainguide complete the build, with an SDG Bel-Air V3 saddle for sitting down and telling people about the race.

This Bike’s Condition

Ste’s own ex-demo bike, with fewer than 400km ridden, RideWrap Covered protection from new and in perfect working condition.

Expect minor cosmetic marks and normal component wear. Wear items and service intervals reflect its use. Everything is checked and signed off before sale.
