Perfecting the Hollowtech II
The new XTR cranks deliver a similarly impressive suite of on-trail countermeasures. Utilising a HOLLOWTECH II forging process and increased spindle wall thickness on FC-M9220, we've achieved a new level of strength, reducing the chance for spindle damage—even from hard, unintended impacts. The new groupset also marks the introduction of our first machined aluminium chainrings, which are strategically reinforced on the leading edge to help prevent bending if (or more appropriately, when) you bang it on a rock.
