The Status 2 170 DH is the bike for uplift days, repeated park laps and getting comfortable on bigger terrain. Specialized pairs an M5 aluminium frame with a dual-crown RockShox BoXXer and a Vivid Coil shock, giving you 180mm of travel at the front and 170mm at the rear. The 2026 build comes in Gloss Nebula Metallic / Orange Zest.
This is a focused gravity build. The direct-mount stem and seven-speed SRAM GX DH drivetrain keep the setup suited to descending, while Maven Bronze four-piston brakes and Butcher GRID GRAVITY tyres put braking and grip high on the list. A 29-inch front wheel and 27.5-inch rear wheel combine rollover at the front with room to move over the back.
Set it up for your riding
The Vivid Coil has a Specialized Ride Dynamics tune matched to the frame's suspension layout, with external rebound adjustment and hydraulic bottom-out control. At the front, the BoXXer's Charger 3 RC damper gives you low-speed compression and rebound adjustment.
The bike arrives in its High geometry setting. Flip chips at the Horst pivots let you switch to Low, dropping the bottom bracket by 8mm and taking the head angle from 64 to 63.5 degrees. Choose the setting for your terrain and clearance needs, then use the reach and stack figures below to compare sizes with a bike you know.

An alloy frame for repeated laps
The M5 aluminium main frame and rear end put durability at the centre of this build. A threaded bottom bracket, sealed bearing pivots and the option to route the rear brake externally are useful details when regular riding turns into regular maintenance.
Dual-crown control
The 180mm RockShox BoXXer gives this Status its DH focus. Its Charger 3 RC damper lets you adjust low-speed compression and rebound, while the direct-mount Descendant stem keeps the cockpit matched to the dual-crown fork.
A coil tune matched to the frame
Specialized Ride Dynamics tunes the Vivid Coil to work with the frame's suspension kinematics. External rebound adjustment lets you control how quickly it recovers between hits, and hydraulic bottom-out control supports the end of the 170mm rear travel.
Mixed wheels, gravity tyres
The 29-inch front wheel helps carry speed through rough ground; the smaller 27.5-inch rear leaves more space to move around the bike. Both use Roval alloy DH rims and Butcher tyres with GRID GRAVITY casings and T9 rubber, a purposeful combination for park and downhill riding.
