Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Alloy Raw Custom
Some bikes arrive with a spec sheet. This one arrived with an attitude problem.
The Stumpjumper EVO has always been one of those bikes that refuses to fit neatly into a category. Trail bike? Absolutely. Enduro bike? It’ll happily play along. Something you can pedal to the top of the hill without feeling like you’re dragging a DH bike behind you, then point downhill and wonder why you didn’t buy knee pads sooner? Yep.
For this Brink custom build, we’ve taken the raw aluminium Stumpjumper 15 EVO frame and built it up with a bunch of parts we actually want to ride.
Up front there’s a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate 160mm fork, paired with a Fox Performance GENIE Float X out back. That gives the bike a serious amount of composure when things get steep, rough and generally unpleasant, without turning every ride into an exercise in getting the thing back up the hill.
The braking department gets the full Hope treatment, with silver-and-black EVO GR4s and 200mm rotors front and rear. Because if you’re going to build a bike that encourages questionable line choices, you might as well give yourself a fighting chance of stopping afterwards.
The wheels are equally purposeful. Hope Pro 5 hubs are laced to Fortus 30 rims, with a 29in front and 27.5in rear giving it that proper mullet feel. Up front you get a Schwalbe Magic Mary Gravity Pro Radial in Ultra Soft, while the rear runs the softer compound for a little less drag without giving up the grip where it matters.
There’s Burgtec hardware throughout, including the Ride High Josh Bryceland bar and Enduro MK3 stem, plus a 210mm OneUp V3 dropper and Burgtec Cloud saddle.
And then there’s the finish. Satin Brushed Aluminium. No pretending it’s carbon. No fake paint effect. Just raw alloy, silver Hope bits and a parts list that says this bike was built to be ridden rather than photographed.
The result is a seriously capable, properly sorted Stumpjumper that sits right in the sweet spot between trail bike agility and enduro-bike confidence.
In other words: climb it, send it, ride it home.
And if you’re wondering whether it’s a bit over-specced for a trail bike, that's probably the point.
