Bike Hire @ BRINK (Chicksands)
By completing a booking and signing this waiver, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Equipment Condition & Safety
- All hire bikes are fully safety-checked and serviced before each hire.
- You must also inspect the bike(s) and any accessories before use and confirm you are satisfied with size, condition, and operation. If you have any concerns before or during your hire, report them to staff immediately.
- You must not attempt to carry out your own repairs. Any issues must be reported to staff for rectification before continuing to ride.
2. Identification & Age
- Only adults (18+) may hire bikes.
- The person making the booking must present a valid form of photo identification (e.g. driving licence or passport) that matches the name on the payment card used for the booking.
- We reserve the right to refuse hire without a refund if suitable identification is not provided at collection.
3. Helmets
- A helmet must be worn at all times while riding.
- A helmet is required for each bike hired and must be confirmed at booking:
- Option 1: Bring your own helmet (must meet current UK safety standards).
- Option 2: Hire a helmet from us.
- If you hire a helmet from us and it suffers an impact, it must be returned immediately for inspection or replacement before you continue to ride.
4. Deposits & Payment
- A £500 security deposit authorisation per bike will be placed on the payment card 24 hours before hire. This is not a charge and will be released once all equipment is returned in good condition.
- If a bike or accessory is damaged, lost, or stolen, you are responsible for repair or replacement costs “at our cost,” with a breakdown provided.
5. Responsibility for Bikes & Transport
- Bikes may be ridden from our premises or transported by car, van, or rack. You are responsible for bikes at all times during the hire, whether ridden, stored, or in transit.
- When unattended, bikes must be securely locked to a fixed object using a Sold Secure approved lock. Theft without this will be treated as your responsibility.
- Our insurance does not cover theft by hirers, loss when left unsecured, or damage arising from racing, time trials, or rough terrain use.
6. Hirer Responsibilities & Minors
- Only adults (18+) may hire bikes or sign this waiver.
- If this waiver is being signed on behalf of a minor, the adult signer confirms they are the parent or legal guardian (or otherwise responsible adult) and accept full responsibility for the minor’s use of the bike, helmet, and compliance with these terms.
7. Fair Use & Damage
- We operate a fair use policy regarding normal wear and tear. Minor cosmetic marks are expected.
- Excessive wear, misuse, crash damage, or loss will be charged at cost.
- You must not modify, dismantle, or otherwise alter hire equipment.
8. Insurance & Liability
- Cycling, especially mountain biking, carries inherent risks of injury. You ride at your own risk.
- We do not provide personal accident or medical insurance for riders. You are advised to arrange your own cover if required.
- We are not responsible for injury, loss, or damage suffered while using hire equipment, except where caused by our negligence.
- Use of third-party facilities (e.g. bike parks) is entirely at your own risk. We do not own or control these facilities and accept no responsibility for their safety.
9. Hire Period
- Bike hire is available during shop opening hours (10am – 6pm).
- Hire is a fixed daily rate — we do not offer half-day or hourly hire.
- We reserve the right to end your hire immediately and without notice if you fail to comply with these terms or misuse equipment.
10. Governing Law
- This waiver and hire agreement are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
