Crankbrothers Mallet Trail Speed Lace Seal Shoes

The Crankbrothers Mallet Trail Speed Lace Seal is a clip-in trail shoe for wet laps, muddy climbs and days when the weather won't settle. Its waterproof membrane and adjustable ankle wrap tackle the rain, while the sole balances a supportive pedalling platform with grip for the sections you have to walk.

Water doesn't only arrive through the front of a shoe. The Seal's 360-degree ankle wrap helps limit entry from above, backed by a breathable membrane around the upper and a low-absorption lining that dries quickly. Speed Lace gives you a quick fit adjustment and a pocket for the loose lace. A stretchy ankle opening and heel pull tab make getting in and out easier.

The sole uses two rubber treatments for different jobs. MC1 around the pedal interface is designed to make clipping in and out easier, while softer HYDRO rubber at the toe and heel adds grip when you're hiking on slippery ground. A fibre-reinforced nylon shank supports pedalling effort, with low-rebound EVA to damp trail vibration.

The ramped cleat recess helps guide the pedal in and clear mud. Its 35mm track gives you room to move the cleat rearwards if that's your preferred position for descending. A TPU-reinforced toe and wraparound outsole protect against knocks, and reflective toe and heel details help in low light. For flat pedals, choose the Stamp Trail Speed Lace Seal.

Pedal compatibility and what's included

Compatible with Crankbrothers and other two-bolt SPD-style clip-in systems. Cleats and pedals are not included. Fit cleats appropriate to your pedal system and check the shoe-to-pedal clearance during setup.

• Black 1.0mm Match Shims are installed.
• Grey 1.5mm Match Shims are included in the box for Mallet E and Mallet DH pedals.
• Crankbrothers lists black 1.0mm or stainless 0.8mm shims for Mallet Trail, Candy and Double Shot pedals. The stainless shim is a fitment option; it is not listed as included.

Fit and sizing
