The Maxxis Minion DHX Downhill Tyre pairs a tread developed for modern downhill racing with the New DH casing. It’s the DHX build for hard cornering, heavy impacts and rough descents, with 3C MaxxGrip rubber throughout the range.
Support from the casing up
New DH uses two 120 TPI casing layers, with a wider overlap towards the shoulder, sidewall protection and a revised butyl insert. The aim is to keep the tyre supported under high loads while helping it conform to rough ground. This is the newer construction, distinct from Maxxis’s older 60 TPI downhill casing.
The tread can run on the front or rear wheel. Soft, slow-rebounding 3C MaxxGrip rubber makes this a traction-focused choice for demanding terrain, particularly wet roots and slippery rocks.
Choose your wheel size
Both 29 x 2.5 and 27.5 x 2.5 use New DH construction, 3C MaxxGrip and a folding bead. Both are Tubeless Ready and require a compatible rim and liquid sealant for tubeless use.
